Fixed Gear Wiki Site Launched

You know wikipedia, right?

Well it's possible to take the mediawiki software that drives the site and run your own wiki, so as a fixie-nerd that's just what i did.

The result is this fixed gear wiki. It just launched yesterday but peeps are already adding to it, I'm happy that people are actually using it.

So, go ahead and edit!

using yahoo pipes to read bike news!

in case you're been hiding under a rock for the last few weeks, you've probably heard of yahoo! pipes.

if you haven't heard of it, it's an aggregator that you control, e.g. you point it at four rss feeds and it rolls them up into one rss feed.

so as a cycling-nerd i naturally figured i could use this in a way i'd find interesting.

anyway, here it is: http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/0OldZDXB2xGD_wbmZYQMOQ

if you want this in RSS, try this link: http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/0OldZDXB2xGD_wbmZYQMOQ/run?_render=rss

and here's another 'pipe' that rolls up bike blogs: http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/YGR2ljrB2xGp7vRLjwtvUw

enjoy the information overload!

veloroutes.org moving hosting providers

the mapping site is moving from a machine in my apartment in seattle to a hosting provider - this means no more threat of cats peeing on the dsl modem, like there is now.

in the long run the earth will be happier, and my energy bill will be less, since i won't have to run a computer @ home 27/7.

hopefully nobody will notice the move, as the site shouldn't be down, although users may experience faster downloads and quicker response times than previously.

i've also got some (bicycle) pictures from my recent trip to paris and london, stay tuned!
